Ridge Clean Energy (RCE), a UK based clean energy company, has received planning approval to construct Three Oaks Renewable Energy Park (REP). The 39MW Renewable Energy Park, located between Thornholme and Haisthorpe, north of the A614, was approved by East Riding of Yorkshire Council on 21st March 2024.

Three Oaks REP will combine solar generation with battery storage, making a meaningful contribution to the area’s energy needs by delivering efficient, reliable renewable energy to power the equivalent of over 8,600 homes, saving around 268,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions over the project’s lifetime.

The associated Three Oaks Community Benefit Fund is projected to provide £20,000 per year for the 40 year lifespan of the project, enabling local people to share further in the advantages of renewable power. The Community Benefit Fund will be managed by East Riding of Yorkshire council in partnership with Burton Agnes and Carnaby Parish Councils to support local social, educational and environmental projects for the community.

Marjorie Glasgow BEM, co-founder and CEO of Ridge Clean Energy said: “We are delighted East Riding of Yorkshire Council have granted consent for Three Oaks Renewable Energy Park. As a company we aim to set a new standard for clean energy projects in the UK, through effective integration of renewable energy, community involvement and environmental protection.

Through an array of ecological enhancements, the site will deliver positive benefits for nature, with a significant net gain of 69% to local biodiversity, achieved through planting of new trees and hedgerows; planting of wildflower meadow and species rich grasses; and, the enhancement of existing hedgerows.

The scheme will include an array of ground-mounted solar panels, with species-rich seed mix between the rows to encourage wildlife, and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The Three Oaks project was sensitively adjusted following feedback received from the local community at the public exhibitions, resulting in the site access being on the western side of the site, rather than the eastern side.

The project is part of Ridge Clean Energy’s portfolio of ten Renewable Energy Parks currently in development. These include a range of renewable energy technologies, including Onshore Wind, Solar Photovoltaics and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
