Helping Bring Energy Efficiency to Ruddington Homes Through Green Doctor Visits

The village of Ruddington became a hub of energy efficiency awareness through a partnership between Groundwork and Ridge Clean Energy. The hall at St Peter’s Rooms filled with experts and exhibits to help residents learn about reducing their energy consumption, get useful freebies and, if necessary, book a personalised home visit from a Green Doctor.
Green Doctors are a team of energy-efficiency experts under the Groundwork Federation offering bespoke advice directly to individuals in their homes. The potential for these home visits proved to be a crucial part of the initiative, addressing specific issues like inefficient heating systems, damp, and mould—common problems that can lead to higher energy bills and poor living conditions.
By offering this one-on-one support, the Green Doctor not only helped residents save on their energy bills but also contributed to improving their overall health and wellbeing.
Ridge Clean Energy’s support was instrumental in making these visits possible, allowing the Green Doctors to reach more homes and provide the essential advice and resources needed to create lasting change.
Beyond the immediate energy savings, which amounted to £2,929 and a reduction of 6,030kg of CO2 emissions—the equivalent of driving 17,860 miles—this initiative has laid the foundation for future community involvement in energy efficiency.
By focusing on practical, on-the-ground solutions, the initiative has made a significant impact on the lives of Ruddington residents, ensuring that energy efficiency and sustainability become central to the community’s future.
